FoodBuzz put on a great festival this weekend. The food was delicious. The sponsors were generous. The attendees were a lot of fun. My feet and legs are really tired today though because until dinner on Saturday night almost everything we did was standing or walking… which with all the food was a good thing but tiring nonetheless. I wore the wrong shoes that rubbed the back of my ankles raw but that is my own fault. At least they were cute.

Dear Readers,
I have a favor to ask. *looks down nervously*… You see, there is a little thing coming up in November where Foodbuzz will be handing out awards for things like best blog, who you’d like to have dinner with, best food photography, etc., etc. (You can read more about the full list of categories and other information here.) And while I try to be relaxed and chill, and pretend that such things matter not to me… no, I’m not competitive… the truth is I like awards. But then who doesn’t?
Well, all of this is to say that I need your help. I cannot win anything unless I am nominated for something. The nominations are very democratic: anyone can nominate anyone. Easy enough right? So if you wouldn’t mind taking a few minutes out of your day, I would really appreciate a nomination. Any category will do… beggars can’t be choosers. The nomination form is hosted by Survey Monkey. It is two pages long. You can fill in all or none or just one or two.
Sincerely,
Shameless in California

Maybe I should start saying self-employed… though I’ve not been working so it seems strange to say self-employed right now. Anyway, I don’t want to ramble too long about nonsense, I just wanted to say hi and that I have missed you all.
I was lucky enough to win a ticket to the Taste of the Nation in Napa from Foodbuzz (they also provide the ads over there on the right hand side of my site). In exchange for the ticket, I promised to write up my experiences and post it here. I’m a bit tardy in my posting (the event was a week ago). So without further ado…
Taste of the Nation – Napa, Monday, August 17, 2009.
It was a warm summer day. My friend, Christine, and I left the Bay Area around noon and drove up to Napa. Our first mistake was not eating lunch before we left. Instead we waited then stopped for lunch at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher at the Oxbow Market in Napa. Christine ordered the bleu cheese burger and fries:

and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries:
