day 8: taking a mulligan

by Patricia on December 7, 2009 · 3 comments

Hey there,
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to interrupt the flow here. I was mentally prepared to present you with 12 days (in a row) of cookies, but due to an unforeseen illness I had to miss today. I’ll make it up to you soon though…

It’s nothing too serious… I’m just not up for being in the kitchen today. But my cats and I hibernated all day and I’m starting to feel better, so here’s hoping tomorrow will be a better day :)

In the meantime, check out the lovely cookies that Megan (from What Megan’s Making) has been baking for her own 12 days of cookies

12 days of cookies: peanut butter chocolate chip

Have you made yesterday’s macaroons yet? They are seriously good. I almost made more today because the idea of sharing made me uncomfortable… The recipe made 12 and I ate 6 of them between last night (in the name of quality control) and this morning (for breakfast, of course). Even so, the idea of sharing the other 6… well… they weren’t even gone yet and I was already having withdrawals.

12 days of cookies: coconut macaroons

When I eat an Almond Joy, I always eat the almond first so that I can savor the coconut and chocolate. That doesn’t mean I prefer Mounds… no, that would be too logical. In fact, I prefer Almond Joy. It’s two treats in one.

But anyway, I don’t eat many candy bars these days (especially with all the cookies around here lately… sheesh. Who’s idea was this anyway? Oh right. That would be me. I must’ve been feeling like a nut that day).

12 days of cookies: (mock) cranberry bliss bars

A few of you mentioned the cranberry bliss bars from Starbucks when I asked about your favorite holiday treat. And while I’m not sure it is technically a cookie, I’ve decided to include it in the 12 days of cookies… I was going to make them anyway, so why not?

[Note: this recipe is in no way affiliated with Starbucks and any resemblance to a Starbucks' product is purely, blissfully coincidental].

12 days of cookies: lemon butter cookies

You might call these refrigerator cookies or icebox cookies… or slice and bake cookies. I call them a great way to plan ahead. I am all about finding ways to make cookie dough ahead of time for quick and easy treats later. And now that we’re fully into the holiday season, it is extra important to me. I like to give out small bags filled with cookies to my friends, but I want them to be fresh.. cause who wants a stale cookie?
