Chocolate

It’s almost 2010. Do you have your resolutions ready? I have been making my list and checking it twice though I don’t really like to call them resolutions so much as goals or steps. Resolutions sounds so strict. I have a number of goals, too many for one person really, so if you need some ideas just let me know, I’m happy to share…

I am excited to be taking part in Menu for Hope this year. Menu for Hope is an annual fundraiser that Pim Techamuanvivit of Chez Pim started in which bloggers from around the world donate food related items to be raffled off. All proceeds go to the UN World Food Programme (WFP). In addition to providing food, the WFP helps hungry people to become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good. (More information about Menu for Hope can be found on Chez Pim).

How am I participating?

By donating one bid item to the raffle. I call it Brownie Essentials, but you can also think of it as a starter kit. [Continue reading...]

1st annual foodbuzz blogger festival

FoodBuzz put on a great festival this weekend. The food was delicious. The sponsors were generous. The attendees were a lot of fun. My feet and legs are really tired today though because until dinner on Saturday night almost everything we did was standing or walking… which with all the food was a good thing but tiring nonetheless. I wore the wrong shoes that rubbed the back of my ankles raw but that is my own fault. At least they were cute.

this photo doesn't do the cake just at all, but I couldn't control myself long enough to take a decent photograph

It was Saturday night and I had just left the BlogHer Food conference. It was a warm night in San Francisco as I walked the few short blocks to Tropisueño for the after party hosted by Elise Bauer (Simply Recipes), Jaden Hair (Steamy Kitchen), and Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman). The party was already hopping when I arrived with Colleen from Foodie Tots and Cheese and Champagne. Let me just say, those ladies throw one heck of a party. Really though, I only mention the party because it was there that I fell in love. Completely. Totally.

Taste of the Nation Napa

by Patricia on August 24, 2009 · 6 comments

Before I jump into my experiences at the Taste of the Nation last week, I wanted to say a quick hello to all of you. I feel like I’ve been away for a long time. It’s only been a week or so since my last post but somehow it feels like an eternity. Maybe time expands when you are unemployed. Maybe I should start saying self-employed… though I’ve not been working so it seems strange to say self-employed right now. Anyway, I don’t want to ramble too long about nonsense, I just wanted to say hi and that I have missed you all.

I was lucky enough to win a ticket to the Taste of the Nation in Napa from Foodbuzz (they also provide the ads over there on the right hand side of my site). In exchange for the ticket, I promised to write up my experiences and post it here. I’m a bit tardy in my posting (the event was a week ago). So without further ado…

Taste of the Nation – Napa, Monday, August 17, 2009.

It was a warm summer day. My friend, Christine, and I left the Bay Area around noon and drove up to Napa. Our first mistake was not eating lunch before we left. Instead we waited then stopped for lunch at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher at the Oxbow Market in Napa. Christine ordered the bleu cheese burger and fries:

and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries:
