things that begin with the letter E

I have been delinquent in all things blog this summer and for that I apologize. But it’s not my fault. The letter E has taken over my life. I’m not kidding…

  • Raven, the kitchenaid and I evacuated my apartment, bringing all of the craft supplies with us. Yep, we moved out.
  • There have also been many excursions. See, I found the very best seafood risotto in the world at a restaurant called Sarafina’s in a little mountain town… And then Dan and I bought a vacation house in the same little mountain town. Coincidence? I think not.
  • I wanted to cook some pasta so I put a pot of water on the stove. I checked the knobs twice to make sure I turned on the right burner, then I walked away. A little while later I began to smell burning plastic. I yelled a few expletives as I ran back to the kitchen where I found that the burner that the leftover apple blueberry crisp was sitting on was red hot and the plastic wrap was melting. A few more expletives escaped as I turned the stove off and looked for a pot holder to move the pyrex pan off of the hot burner but before I got two steps away from the stove BANG!

    explodey

The pyrex exploded. I screamed. And then I cleaned up all of the broken glass and explodey crisp. No one was hurt in the making of this explosion. Well, except for the last bit of apple-blueberry crisp… and the pyrex pan.

  • Lastly, but not leastly (is that a word?), I have been excited and elated. Why? I’ll give you a hint…

    engagement

    Need another clue?

Well, Dan put a ring on it… or in other words, Dan and I are engaged!

And that is my summer of E’s. I have several recipes I’d like to share with you but they will have to wait until next week because Dan and I are off on another excursion tomorrow: we’re backpacking in Yosemite.

What have you been up to?

Congrats on the best ‘e’ word; engagement! :D

And I’m glad no one got hurt. That pyrex explosion sounds so scary!

Congrats on the exciting news!

Oh, and we’ve had pyrex explode on us too – makes me leery of the brand. Ours happened in the oven – using an “oven-safe” dish.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful summer, and don’t worry, the computer will be there when the weather isn’t so beautiful. Have a great time!

Congratulations! On everything except the explosion; that must have been quite exciting in its own way. Arnold is so fun, we just got back from a week at Bear Valley and it was beautiful. The big burger place is good, the blue frog is not; just saying. Have a great backpacking adventure.
