The following year I moved to the UK and began looking for these poivrons. One day, at the market, I spotted them but the sign on the cart said "LEEKS." This whole time I had been fooled into eating this horrible thing called a leek and I had had no idea.
Today I'll openly admit it: I LOVE LEEKS! And your photo reminds me how much I love them and how long it's been since I cooked with them.

While I was living in France, I discovered this delicious vegetable at the market called ‘poivrons.’ I loved them. I mean, I wash my clothes and dishes and everything else... but reusable bags? I can't see washing the bags after every use as the article suggests but at least I'll think about it once in a while now :)

I know I probably don’t need to worry too much about the germs, but the article struck me because it never really occurred to me. Not only can you wash them, but they hold soooo much more than those plastic bags and they never break or crush your groceries. Make the switch... you'll be glad you did.
I enjoy the recipes at Orangette too. I haven't tried this one, but it sounds yummy. Have you read her book? It's awesome.

Oh, you would be so happy if you made the switch to canvas shopping bags. Seriously! Everyone's tried that butternut squash/chickpea thing - I really must make it soon. I love the Christmas card idea! So simple and awesome. I've never washed my reusable grocery bags, probably should. Though I checked out the article and I don't think it's as bad as it sounds. For example, if you have a clean bag then put fruit/veggies in it just one time, you're likely to leave some yeast/mould behind. And of course the bags will have some level of bacteria. We're covered with bacteria so us just touching the bags will cause that! Okay sorry for my rant about microorganisms. ;)

I love your links list!
