Dan said when I told him I was making applesauce yesterday, his initial thought was “big deal”. That it would probably taste a little fresher than the store bought stuff… that it would be “good” but you know, “it’s just applesauce”.
Then after dinner, he was headed toward the kitchen for a little slice of applesauce cake (recipe coming soon) so I asked if he would bring me a little bit of applesauce while he was in there. He made a small plate of applesauce cake with applesauce on the side and I got about two bites of the applesauce.
I made a move in the general direction of the kitchen and he asked “Are you going to get more applesauce?”
“No, I was going to get the laundry from the dryer, but I can bring more applesauce if you want.”
His response: “Bring the jar.”
So, to those doubters out there who think “it’s only applesauce”, all I have to say is “neener-neener-neener”.
[as for those empty jars up top, they have been filled. Can you guess with what? hint: it's not applesauce.]

Well, yes. In that photo they are full of air :)
Fresh Apple Sauce sounds yummy. Do you add cinnamon ?
Hey April, the applesauce is cooked with a cinnamon stick so it gets a hint of cinnamon flavor without being overwhelming.
I coulda told ya that. Homemade applesauce is da bomb.
fo-shizzle.
One of the best stories you’ve told – love it! Can’t wait to see what’s in the jars…
Thanks Beth :)
