Gourmet is kind of an icon (and there is just something about holding a magazine vs reading online, but then I've always been a sucker for paper). There are a number of food portals around now and more popping up all the time it seems. The question is what can be done that is different enough to stand out but familiar enough that people are attracted to it? I've definitely thought about it, but I'm still trying to figure out my own direction...

Hi Brit, I agree this is an opportunity. Yes, Gourmet was great, but don't you "get" it? This is why you quit your job... That you have computer skills is the key, so maybe meditate on starting a food portal with contributors - check out what G-Living & SpiritLibrary did. We NEED something like this. You could pull in contributors who teach about making preserves, growing organic produce in your own yard, FoodShare, and so much more... Look around at your network. I see HUGE potential! Remember: every death is followed by a rebirth. So please don't be sad. <3 <3 <3

But P, this is an OPPORTUNITY for you and those foodies in your network to create something even BETTER than Gourmet!
