I know once I'm over that hump (it's just so hard to get off of the couch if all I've been doing is sitting on the couch), maintaining the exercise routine will be easy. I used to work out all of the time and I craved exercise the way I crave brownies now. So I'm hoping to get somewhere near that point again. My weight loss goal is flexible, my fitness and health are really the priority. And swimsuit season? Well... I may just hide in a coverup and read a good book.
btw - I picked up some agave nectar the other day at Trader Joe's to experiment with sugar-free baking. I'm just not sure what to do with it now that I have it.
@Bread and Jam - The worryimg about my backside I think began in 7th grade for me when an 8th grade boy made a comment about it. Darn those boys. Haha.

@Julia – I decided to sign up for a bootcamp fitness program to get myself back into a habit. My sister and I were just reminiscing the other day about bathing suits when we were little meaning fun times and how we actually dread them now. I never worried about my backside view when I was little. At what age did that start, really? :)
The chore of suit shopping actually puts me in a very bad mood that can only be lifted by going for lunch which means dessert too. I wish I had some good advice for getting into bathing suit shape. I usually try to step up the toning exercises more around this time and curb my sweets and carbs to a few times a week. I am still hoping that someday soon, someone will invent a suit that fashionably covers every inch of our thighs and it will be all the rage.

I had to laugh at the header for this post. I'm not thinking about swimsuit season at the moment....I like to pretend it doesn't really exist! One useful excuse for me is that with my fair skin I can't be out in the sun for very long or I'll burn (even with high SPF sun block on). As far as maintaining (or trying to lose) I try to combine 30-45 minutes of cardio (I have an exercise bike and watch a tv show or movie, or now that's it's getting nice out ride my bike outside or walk) and do some muscle tone stuff like push-ups (the girly kind), and crunches, and squats. I must agree with you, as much as I hate it, I am better at watching what I eat and more honest with myself when I keep a food and/or exercise journal.
To balance your baking with trying to lose some weight you could look into some "alternative" sugars. I use splenda and it substitutes for sugar beautifully for *most* things. There are still some things where sugar is a must. There is also a splenda brown sugar that is nice. And instead of real full-o-fat butter, use an alternative like smart balance (it even helps lower your cholesterol lol). They have come out with smart balance 50/50 butter sticks which are really nice to bake with. I'm sure there are lots more (and probably better) suggestions, but these are two simple ones that I use to help ease my conscious when baking oh so yummy things.

I definitely have a fitness goal as well….20 pounds would be nice, but I’d be happy with about 10 and more muscle tone.
