Today I helped D. move. I wasn’t required to do any heavy lifting, I just had to pack up all of the kitchen stuff and other little things. Now most of D. and the boys’ stuff is at their new abode. And D. and I are currently relaxing in the new living room (sort of relaxing… the Sharks game is on, so the relaxing is a little sporadic depending on what’s happening with the puck).
We’re both tired. And I felt a treat was in order after a hard day’s work. But this called for instant gratification. No baking, no mixing… Then I remembered that we still had not broken into the chocolate I had put in D.’s Christmas stocking. AND I just happened to remember where it was packed (surprise, right?).
So tonight D. and I are are sipping a Clos du Bois Cabarnet Sauvignon and nibbling on a Brix extra dark chocolate. The box recommends pairing it with a cabarnet sauvignon or bordeaux. The chocolate is dark but not bitter; it’s semi-sweet but not like chocolate chips, it’s darker than that. It pairs well with a big California red, but D. doesn’t think a Bordeaux would stand up to the semi-sweetness of this dark chocolate. But we both agree that with the cab it pairs very well. I found the Brix at World Market. If you like wine and chocolate, I recommend it. It is a nice treat.
And finally, the roundup:
– Peanut Butter Cup Brownies from Lori aka The Recipe Girl (can you all tell I like chocolate and peanut butter?)
– Irish Cream Dream brownies from HoneyB on The Life and Loves of Grumpy’s Honeybunch (this is another Cooking Light recipe)
– Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes from Deb at the Smitten Kitchen (Awesome blog, awesome looking cupcakes! I know, not a brownie, but these look like serious cupcakes… serious enough I will have to try them myself. And soon.)
