Yesterday I made chocolate cut-out cookies and the boys helped me decorate. It was a bit of a messy endeavor but it was fun. And the cookies were delicious… like brownies. I plan to make these cookies again for Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas, I have decided to once again make presents for my friends instead of buying. And with the economy in the stinker, it’s just another reason to scale back. Last year I made loads of cookies and rice therapy bags (to be heated in the microwave and put on your sore neck… or as a hand warmer in your hoodie as one of my friends used it :) )
This year I’m thinking green. Of course, I’ll still make an assortment of cookies but instead of the “indulge” theme I had last year, I thought “green” would be a good theme and it means something to me. I’ve been doing little things this year to green my life (ex: almost always take my own bags to the store… I say almost because I tend to forget my bags still when I go to non-grocery stores like Target and Walgreens, but I’m working on that. I also made napkins recently and stopped buying paper towels. I use old kitchen towels as rags for spills and cloth napkins when I eat). But what to include in a “green” kit? Reusable bags, cloth napkins, …. ??? I’m not sure. I want it to be cute and fun, but green.
Anyway, it’s already November so it is definitely time to get started.

After I’d graduated and was working at my 1st “real” job, I made *humble* cinnamon apple sauce for some colleagues and pound cake with fruit and REAL whipped cream for others. Both were a huge hit… :-)
